Bobby ran out the back door. It was nice outside. Spring was finally here. "What are you doing, Mom?" Bobby asked.
"Planting some flowers," Mom answered.
"Oh. That never made sense to me," Bobby said.
Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." John 11:25
"What do you mean, Bobby?" Mom asked.
"Well, you have those little tiny seeds. How can a big flower come out of that little seed?"
Mom smiled. "Bobby, God made it so that everything starts with a seed. When you put the seed in the dirt, add some water and sunshine, then the new life starts. Pretty soon you have a beautiful flower."
"But Mom," Bobby said. "Where does the seed come from?"
"Well, Bobby. At one time the seed was part of a flower. But the flower died. The seed is all that was left of the dead flowers." Mom put a few more seeds deep under the dirt.
"It still seems impossible. I mean, the flower has to die before new ones can grow?" Bobby questioned.
"That's exactly right," Mom replied. "You remember the story from the Bible of how Jesus died, don't you?"
"Yeah."
"Well," Mom said as she covered some more seeds with fresh dirt. "Jesus died so that you can have new life. When you believe in Jesus, it is like you have His life growing inside of you. He really loves you, Bobby."
"I know, Mom," Bobby said. "That's why we had Easter, isn't it?"
"It sure it, Bobby," Mom answered. "At Easter, we remembered how Jesus died for us, and also came back to life."
"Mom, I'm glad Jesus is alive."
"Me too."
"Mom, when you are done, can we go to the Dairy Queen and get an ice cream?" Bobby asked.
"Okay. Take my garden gloves into the garage, and we will go right away."
